Josephus Lyles, the younger brother to world 200m champion Noah Lyles, posted his first sub-10m in 100m and he could not hide his joy.

Josephus Lyles, the younger brother to three-time 200m world champion Noah Lyles, has expressed his delight at running his first sub-10 in 100m.

Josephus ran a wind-assisted 9.97 at the PURE Athletics Sprint Elite Meet on Saturday, finishing first ahead of Kendal Williams (9.98) and Eloy Benitez (10.08) in the preliminary round.

Though wind-assisted, it was quicker than his personal best of 10.03 recorded at the Billy J Murphy Track and Field Complex, Memphis, Tennessee in July 2022 and the sprinter got all inspirational after the performance.

“I know who I am. I know what I am capable of. I know what I am here to do.” -Vince Anderson,” Josephus posted online.

The sprinter has now improved his season’s best in 100m which is 10.14 clocked at the Tom Tellez Track in Houston, Texas on March 14.

Josephus also had a good run in the 200m where he clocked 20.05 to win the preliminary round with Christian Miller coming second in 20.15 while Eric Harrison Junior completed the podium in 20.77.

“The wind was not my friend today but regardless a good run,” Josephus said of his 200m race.

The sprinter is tuning up for the US Olympics trials which will be held in June as he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his elder brother who is the world 100m and 200m champion.
