Mary Moraa has shared what she plans to achieve in the busy 2024 season.

Reigning World 800m champion Mary Moraa has a plethora of thrilling events lined up for her fans in the 2024 season but mainly the Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Speaking on Citizen TV, Moraa noted that she is aware of the congested calendar that awaits her but insisted that her main focus is on the Olympic Games.

Next year has many events lined up including the Athletics Kenya weekend meetings, World Relay Championships in Nassau, Bahamas, World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, United Kingdom, the All Africa Games in Ghana, and the Olympic Games in Paris, France among other events.

“Next season will be hectic because we have the World Relays, World Indoor Championships, All Africa Games, and the Olympics.

"So, we have many events but my huge target is at the Olympic Games in Paris, France,” Moraa said.

She added that she has not set a target of what she wants to achieve yet but she will know when she gets to the start line of the women’s 800m.

“In such a race we have the semifinal and the final and there are only three medals. I can’t say I am going to win the gold but my big target is to finish in the podium bracket,” Moraa said.

Meanwhile, Moraa has enjoyed a great 2023 season, being beaten only once in the 800m outdoor tour.

She has managed to bag wins in the Diamond League Meetings and she became the third Kenyan woman to win a gold medal in the World Championships 800m.

At the event that was held in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, Moraa clocked an impressive Personal Best time of 1:56.03 to win the race ahead of Keely Hodgkinson and Athing Mu.

She tasted her first and only defeat in the 800m at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting final where she finished fourth.
