Despite recent struggles at the Grand Slam Track series, Mary Moraa remains confident of making a strong comeback ahead of the World Championships.

Mary Moraa has struggled to make an impact at the Grand Slam Track since the first leg, and fans have expressed concern about her form.

The reigning world 800m champion started her season with an eighth-place finish in the women’s 800m at the Grand Slam Track Kingston and later withdrew from the 1500m due to unavoidable circumstances.

She then proceeded to the 5th AK Track & Field Weekend Meeting/Relay Series, competing in the 400m and the 4x400m relay. Mary Moraa then withdrew from Kenya’s team for the World Athletics Relays.

Mary Moraa shared a brief post on her Facebook page, noting that she wanted more from the Grand Slam Track event in Philadelphia, but unfortunately, things did not go as planned.

She urged her fans to continue supporting her through the struggles, noting that she will bounce back before the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Moraa insisted that such disappointments are setting her up for a resounding comeback, adding that she will be out to make her fans proud when the right time comes.

“Not a result I wanted from Philadelphia Grand Slam Track, but every setback forms an opportunity for a glorious comeback. Thank you all for your support...just hang in there as we keep grinding,” Mary Moraa said.

Being the defending champion in the 800m at the World Championships, all eyes will be on Mary Moraa throughout the season.

Moraa had a mixed 2024 season, and she will be hoping to change the script in 2025. She went to the Paris Olympic Games with the hope of winning a gold medal, but was forced to finish third behind Tsige Duguma and Keely Hodgkinson.

Some of her notable victories include breaking Caster Semenya’s 600m world best and winning the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.

Mary Moraa rounded up her season with a second-place finish at Athlos NYC, Alexis Ohanian’s women-only event.
