After a stunning 5000m win in Rome, Beatrice Chebet has reignited world record hopes.
Double Olympic champion Beatrice Chebet has reopened world record talks following her impressive run at the Diamond League Meeting in Rome.
Competing in the 5000m, Beatrice Chebet clocked a stunning national record and world-leading time of 14:03.69 to win the race ahead of Freweyni Hailu of Ethiopia, who clocked 14:19.33.
Italy’s Nadia Battocletti, competing on home soil, clocked a national record time of 14:23. Gudaf Tsegay, the 5000m world record holder and a favourite to impress, finished distant fifth in 14:24.86.

“If I get someone who will push me up to 3000, it is possible. Today, I wanted to try and see how fast I can go when I push a lot. After running a meeting record and a personal best, I am so impressed. Soon, I am going for the time under 14.”
