Wanyonyi also took a moment to thank his fans for their unwavering support, emphasising the significance of their presence at the event.

“I love running at home. I thank my fans for coming to support and cheering me on. I was contemplating going to the Xiamen Diamond League meeting first, but I just could not let them down, so I decided to run on home soil first and represent them before going out.”
