The 23-year-old is not resting as she revealed that she will go back into training.

World 5000m silver medallist Beatrice Chebet has shifted her focus to the Diamond League Meeting in Oslo after warming fans' hearts at the just-concluded Kip Keino Classic.

Chebet was in a class of her own as she cruised smoothly to the finish line to win the 5000m race in 15:15.82 ahead of compatriot Margaret Kipkemboi who took silver in 15:16.28. Judith Kiyeng sealed the podium in 15:16.66.

The 23-year-old is not resting on her laurels as she revealed that she will go back into training as she looks to upset fellow greats in Norway’s capital on Tuesday, June 15.

“I didn’t expect to win this race but I am happy all in all. So far, so good…my body is responding well to training. Going forward, I want to compete in the Diamond League Meetings and my next race is in Oslo.

"After that, I will now start preparing for the meeting in London before I head to the World Championships where I hope to go one step better,” she said.

During last year’s World Championships in Oregon, Chebet was forced to settle for second place after she was outsmarted by Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay.

Chebet was opening her track season at Moi International Sports Center in Kasarani and she was hopeful that her campaign will continue in the same trend.

She opened her 2023 season with a win at the 91st Cinque Mulini Cross-country where she bagged a dominant win in 19:41.

She then competed at the World Cross-country championships in the senior women’s race where she also took the top honours after outshining the Ethiopians who posed a serious threat.
