American legend Michael Johnson has offered advice to track and field fans as they seek to support their favourite athletes this Olympic season.

American sprint legend Michael Johnson has urged track and field fans to support their favourite athletes ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games scheduled for July.

The four-time Olympic champion rallied fans to openly voice their opinions on why they think their favourite athletes would win and that they should be cautious and keep things professional. He also cautioned against betting with money on who would win what event at the Olympic Games.

“Advice for track fans as we head toward the Paris Olympics. Support your favourite, argue why they’ll win, talk your shit, and keep it respectful and fun. Above all DO NOT put money on your pick!!!!” he posted on his X (Twitter) handle.

Recently, fans have been engaged in online feuds between Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Sha’Carri Richardson. Fraser-Pryce’s fans argued that Richardson had copied the Jamaican’s style in a recent Whoop ad that she was featured in.

The five-time World champion wore almost the same outfit and wig during her campaign for Richard Mile late last year and fans were fuming over the lack of creativity from Richardson, the reigning World 100m champion.

Johnson also voiced his opinion concerning the same, cautioning fans from attacking their athletes’ rivals. He said: “The tribalism of sports fandom is great for sport! Would be great if people didn’t take it to extreme personal attacks on their athletes’ rivals. I know I’m asking too much. Just saying…”

The legend has now come out to urge fans to support their favourite athletes but avoid issues that would lead to conflicts and attacks as they build up to the Olympic Games.
