This will be the first time she competes in Boston but she will come up against strong opposition that includes Boston Marathon champion Obiri

Ikaika Sports, Sheila Chepkirui’s management, has announced that she has finally received her US Visa and will be participating at the Boston 10K scheduled for June 25.

Chepkirui unfortunately missed out on competing at the Boston Marathon in April due to a failure to obtain US visa in time. She would later switch last minute to the London Marathon where she finished fourth.

In a Twitter post, Ikaika Sports said: “Sheila Chepkirui has received new visa for travel to (the) US and we are looking forward to seeing her in Boston!”

This will be the first time she competes in Boston but that will not stop her from shining since she has a decorated career in the 10km road races.

The Commonwealth Games 10,000m bronze medallist will be lining up as the fastest in the women’s field with a Personal Best time of 29:46.

She will enjoy the company of compatriots Hellen Obiri, Vicoty Chepngeno, Mary Ngugi, Irine Cheptai, and Edna Kiplagat. Stacy Ndiwa and Sharon Lokedi will also be in the mix.

Chepkirui also made her debut over the full marathon last year in Valencia where she finished second. She has had a great season so far, also winning the Paris Half Marathon.

She opened her season with a second-place finish at the National Cross-country Championships held at the Prisons Staff Training College in Ruiru.

Meanwhile, Ikaika Sports also announced that Stephen Kiprop and Abel Kipchumba will also be returning to the competitive fields after being ruled out with injuries in the recent past.

"Special mention also for Stephen Kiprop (first competition since September 2020 due to a knee surgery) and Abel Kipchumba (first race since September 2022 due to major knee injury),” the sports agency said.
