There is light at the end of the tunnel in light of the soaring doping cases.

Sports Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke is optimistic that the progress towards the fight against the doping menace is on the right track.

The PS said with the support the Ministry of Sports has gotten from the relevant stakeholders including Athletics Kenya and the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), there will be no more cases in the country in no time.

“With the support we have gotten, doping will be a thing of the past. As a ministry, we are very excited by the progress we have made so far and very soon, we shall be back with a bang,” he said.

The anti-doping steering committee presented their first report to the PS on Friday, March 31 and they shall be awaiting approval from the ministry before implementing the measures they had outlined.

The PS added that they will be keen to support where necessary considering the matter affects the whole nation.

The government has set aside an estimate of Ksh660,000,000 million yearly to aid in the fight against the heinous act.

“As a government, we are committed because this is a matter of national strategic interest and we are here to ensure that our athletes are running clean. We have the talent, potential, passion and indeed, we are a sporting nation,” he said.
