The initiative, announced following a high-energy CHAN watch party hosted by KEFOFA at Axa Grill Karen, is part of what Kalonzo describes as a commitment to football, fan culture, and national pride.

The Harambee Stars secured a 1-0 victory against DR Congo during their CHAN 2024 opener at Kasarani Stadium last Sunday, a match that Kalonzo watched live alongside KEFOFA fans.

I’m Sponsoring 500 Fans - Kalonzo

Kalonzo stated that the sponsorship is meant to rally national support for the Harambee Stars by ensuring that the team has a strong and vocal presence in the stadium. He called it a “call to action” for Kenyans to unite behind the national team.

“Football is a universal language that brings people together, regardless of their backgrounds, beliefs, or political affiliation.

“I'm sponsoring 500 fans to attend the next three CHAN Harambee Stars matches at Kasarani through the Kenya Football Fans Federation (KEFOFA), of which I am the patron,” Kalonzo announced.

The move also serves as a reward for KEFOFA’s loyal fan base, which continues to support both local and national teams. Kalonzo highlighted the dedication shown by KEFOFA members during the DR Congo match viewing party.

KEFOFA leadership has confirmed that detailed information on ticket distribution and travel logistics will be released in the coming days. The sponsored fans will be selected from across various clubs represented in KEFOFA, ensuring inclusivity and broad representation.

The Harambee Stars are set to face Angola on Wednesday, August 7, at 7:00 PM at the Moi International Sports Centre. KEFOFA has urged all fans — whether selected or not — to rally behind the team and demonstrate unity and pride.

“This is more than just a game. It’s an opportunity to show what Kenyan fans are made of,”  a KEFOFA official told Pulse Sports.
