Manchester United Transfer Boost as Benjamin Sesko Makes Decision After Big-Money Bid

Manchester United are reportedly confident that they will sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko after receiving encouragement from the player’s camp.

United finally submitted their bid on Tuesday, raising the stakes, after Premier League rivals Newcastle had also placed their bid a day earlier.

United have offered a total package of €85 million, which is €5 million short of what Newcastle submitted on Monday, and it is up to the Bundesliga club to make a decision on which deal favours them.

However, there is confidence within the United camp after reportedly being given assurances by the player that he prefers to join them over Newcastle and it is believed that is why they went ahead and placed the bid.

According to Ben Jacobs, United are now keen to thrash out the deal with Leipzig after agreeing personal terms with the player in a move that will see them trump Newcastle, who have seen a number of targets move elsewhere.

“Understand Benjamin Sesko has made it clear this evening he wants to join Manchester United,” Jacobs posted on X on Tuesday night.

“Newcastle have today offered improved terms and their bid to Leipzig remains the stronger of the two clubs. But there is now a growing sense of confidence within Manchester United that Sesko will join if the clubs reach a deal.

“Manchester United's focus is now on trying to reach an agreement with Leipzig as the club believe Sesko is waiting for them.”

The news was also corroborated by transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano. He posted: “Understand Manchester United’s feeling from earlier today [Tuesday] is even stronger tonight. The club believes Benjamin Sesko only wants to join Manchester United.”

“Man United forwarded an official contract proposal to Sesko while also keep negotiating with RB Leipzig.”

It could be a major coup for United, who have been in the market for a new striker, after seeing Rasmus Hojlund disappoint since signing from Atalanta in 2023 with the Danish forward scoring just four Premier League goals last season.

Sesko, who scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga last season, is seen as an upgrade and at 22, he represents a long-term investment and one the club thinks can develop further under coach Ruben Amorim.
