Nairobi United captain Daniel Bichiok has taken a subtle dig at Gor Mahia, reminding the continent that his team had already proven their strength when they stunned K’Ogalo 2–1 in the FKF Cup final.
That win not only secured their continental ticket but also showcased their readiness to compete with the country’s biggest clubs.
Nairobi United have since backed it up with a remarkable CAF Confederation Cup run that has carried them all the way to the group stages after eliminating NEC FC and Étoile Sportive du Sahel (ESS) in the preliminary rounds.

Nairobi United Captain: The Statement Has Already Been Made
Speaking upon their arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi United captain Daniel Bichiok expressed that their progress had already been evident in their domestic success.
He highlighted the FKF Cup final against Gor Mahia as a testimony, and emphasised that the team’s mission in continental competition was not about making declarations.
Daniel Bichiok added that their main aim is to fulfil their responsibility with professionalism and purpose under the leadership they represent.
“The statement had already been made, as you saw during the match against Gor Mahia in the final, and we are here making progress,” Daniel Bichiok revealed.
“So, we did not go there to make a statement but to do what we are supposed to do as employees of his excellency.”
Nairobi United CAF Confederation Cup Campaign
Nairobi United FC started their CAF Champions League campaign against Uganda Premier League side NEC FC. They earned a crucial 2-2 draw in the first leg of the match.
Nairobi United then drew 1-1 in the return leg to progress to the next round on the away goals rule. In the second preliminary round, Nairobi United were up against Tunisian heavyweights Étoile Sportive du Sahel.
In the first leg match played behind closed doors at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Nairobi United produced a stunning performance, defeating the North African giants 2-0.
In the second leg in Sousse, Étoile Sportive du Sahel levelled the tie at 2-2 on aggregate, forcing a penalty shootout.
Nairobi United triumphed 7-6 on penalties to eliminate the former continental champions and book their historic spot in the group stage.
The CAF Confederation Cup draw is scheduled for November 3 in Johannesburg, with Nairobi United set to learn their group stage opponents.
