Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly sanctioned official talks with RB Leipzig regarding a potential summer transfer for striker Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenian international has been a long-term target for the Gunners, who expressed interest last summer and again in the January transfer window.

Despite Leipzig having been reported to have resisted those advances, Sesko is now expected to depart the German club this summer.

Sesko is indicated by Football.London as among several strikers on Arsenal's shortlist, including Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak.

Arteta is eager to bolster his attacking options, particularly after injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz left the team without a recognized striker towards the end of last season.

Reports indicate that Arsenal has formally contacted both Leipzig and Sesko's representatives to discuss a potential move.

Leipzig are reportedly open to negotiations starting at €70 million (£59 million) but they are hoping to secure a fee closer to €100 million (£84 million).

The 21-year-old Sesko enjoyed a productive season, scoring 21 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions. He currently has four years remaining on his contract with Leipzig.
