Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga may not have been in action on Saturday but he watched on agonizingly as his club Al Arabi were embarrassed by his ex-side Al Duhail, who beat them 8-1.

Olunga, who failed a fitness test after limping off in Al Arabi’s 3-2 defeat to Al Ashamal last weekend, saw his pain doubled as he was not just nursing his injury but also dealing with disappointment as Al Arabi welcomed Al Duhail at the Al Thumama Stadium on Saturday.

Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek, who replaced Olunga at Al Duhail, opened the floodgates with a third minute headed goal off an Al Brake cross but Pablo Sarabia equalised for Al Arabi, striking on a second attempt against defenders in the 23rd minute.

But that would be the only goal for the home side as Al Hashmi Al Hussain headed in his own goal while defending a set-piece to give Al Duhail a 2-1 lead after 26 minutes before Al Brake struck a long-range effort for 3-1 in the 34th minute.

Who Else Scored for Al Duhail?

Luis Alberto would score twice for Al Duhail, same as Adil Boulbina, who flicked one over the goalkeeper and struck a penalty, while Piatek had a chance to seal his brace but missed from the spot.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Bourigeaud made no mistakes from the penalty spot as he completed the rout in the 78th minute, handing Al Arabi one of their biggest defeats in their history.

Defeat left Al Arabi in ninth place on the 12-team table with four points, having won just one of their first five games, drawing another and losing three.

Al Duhail, meanwhile, are fifth on the table with seven points, with the heavy win just their second of their season, after a less than impressive start to the campaign that sees them trail leaders Al Shamal by six points.
