Harambee Stars Abroad: Michael Olunga Limps Off in Al Arabi Defeat as Stanley Wilson on Target in Sweden

It was a mixed weekend for a various number of Harambee Stars footballers plying their trade abroad including Michael Olunga, who had to be subbed off early after picking a suspected injury for Al Arabi.

Michael Olunga endured a frustrating outing in the Qatari Stars League after being forced off in the 26th minute of Al Arabi’s 3-2 defeat to Al Shamal on Friday. His substitution raised concerns for both club and country, with important fixtures looming on the horizon.

Al Shamal took the lead through Mohammed Manai in the 32nd minute, but Al Arabi struck back in stoppage time of the first half courtesy of Yazan Al-Naimat. 

In the second half, Al Shamal regained control when Baghdad Bounedjah converted a penalty in the 64th minute before Manai struck again four minutes later. Jordan Veretout reduced the deficit in the 73rd minute, but Al Arabi fell short of salvaging a point.

Stanley Wilson Off the Mark in Sweden

In Sweden, 19-year-old midfielder Stanley Wilson Omondi scored his first goal for Enköpings SK since joining on loan from AIK, helping his side to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Team TG in the Ettan Norra on Sunday.

Enköpings opened the scoring through Linus Zetterström in the 22nd minute before Wilson doubled the advantage with a composed strike just before the interval. 

Moments later, Daniel Norrby added a third to give the visitors a commanding halftime lead. Team TG mounted a spirited fightback in the second half, with Victor Kamf pulling one back in the 66th minute and Tyson Afshari striking in the 81st, but Enkopings held firm to take all three points.

The result lifted Enkopings to 12th place in the table, easing relegation pressure, while Wilson’s goal highlighted his growing influence in Swedish football.

Ayunga Helps St Mirren Register Maiden Win

In Scotland, Jonah Ayunga played a key role for St Mirren as they recorded their first Scottish Premiership win of the season with a 2-1 victory at Falkirk. The Kenyan forward completed seven of eight passes and registered one big chance before being substituted in the 70th minute.

St Mirren sealed the win late in the match through a deflected free-kick from Declan John and a decisive header by Mikael Mandron, ending a run of draws and lifting morale in the dressing room.

Anyembe Suffers Defeat in Viborg’s Narrow Defeat

Kenyan defender Daniel Anyembe featured at centre-back for Viborg in their Danish Superliga clash against AGF, which ended in a 2-1 defeat.

AGF struck first through Nicolai Poulsen in the 14th minute, only for Viborg to respond swiftly four minutes later through Thomas Jørgensen. The decisive moment arrived in the 77th minute when a handball in the Viborg box gifted AGF a penalty, which Kristian Arnstad converted to secure the win.

Lenkupae Helps VPS Boost Survival Bid

In Finland, William Lenkupae came off the bench to help VPS secure a 2-1 victory over KTP in the Veikkausliiga Relegation Round.

Prosper Ahiabu opened the scoring in the 11th minute before Olli Jakonen extended VPS’s lead in the 35th minute. Aleksi Tarvonen pulled one back for KTP in the 62nd minute, but VPS defended resolutely to claim an important three points in their battle to avoid relegation.
