Jose Mourinho Rejects African Giants Despite Eye-Watering €9 Million Per Year Offer
Legendary coach Jose Mourinho had a chance to return to football management immediately following his sacking by Fenerbahçe last week but turned it down.
Mourinho was dismissed by the Turkish giants after failing to lead the club to the Champions League while he also had a frosty relationship with the powers that be over transfer activity.
However, a vacancy soon opened up in Africa last weekend when Egyptian giants Al Ahly sacked Spanish coach Jose Riveiro on Sunday with Mourinho among those contacted over the possibility of taking over.

Riveiro lasted just three months in charge of the Cairo Red Devils and was sacked after overseeing seven matches across all competitions, having won just one, drawn four and lost two.
However, Mourinho reportedly turned down the approach despite an offer of €9 million per year plus bonuses for the former Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur coach.
What Has Mourinho Said Over Al Ahly Job?
“I told them respectfully that I’m not interested at the moment,” Mourinho told Cairo 24, as quoted by See News.
The two-time Champions League winner appears keen to continue coaching in Europe as this is not the first time he is rejecting a chance to work abroad, having previously turned down approaches from Syria, China and most recently Saudi Arabia, the latter which was offering him €60 million per year.
While Mourinho is out of the running, another Portuguese coach in Paulo Bento, the former Portugal national team coach, is keen on the job as he is currently unemployed after leaving the United Arab Emirates national team last year.
Al Ahly have been evaluating candidates but there are also reports that they could hand the job to Egyptian Emad El Nahhas.
