It is extra motivation for Tanzania, who are already assured at least Ksh26 million ($200,000), that will be the prize money for countries that finish bottom of groups that have four or five teams.

Tanzania, who are in Group B alongside Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Central African Republic and Madagascar, are among sides in five-team groups and if they disappoint and end up bottom of the pool, they are guaranteed Ksh26 million from the tournament.

A $300,000 (Ksh38.7 million) reward from CAF awaits them if they finish fourth or higher in the group while $450,000 (Ksh58 million) is the amount for a spot in the quarter-final.

At CHAN 2024, winners will pocket $3.5 million (Ksh451 million) while runners-up take home $1.2 million (Ksh155 million) as $700,000 (Ksh90 million) and $600,000 (Ksh77 million) goes to teams that finish third and fourth respectively.
