Kenyan fans have made their intentions clear ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024) by purchasing all tickets for Harambee Stars’ opening match.

Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will be the centre of attention from Saturday when CHAN 2024 kicks off with the opening match between the Taifa Stars and Burkina Faso at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The following day, focus will shift to Kenya when Harambee Stars kick off their CHAN 2024 campaign against DR Congo at Kasarani Stadium and the match will be watched by a capacity crowd.

This is after Kenyan fans snapped up all tickets to make it a sold-out stadium as Benni McCarthy’s charges look to begin the tournament in victorious fashion.

Harambee Stars supporters have bought all tickets one week before kick off as by Monday morning, no ticket was available for purchase for the Kenya vs DR Congo match, with only the other games variable for sale.

It shows the level of enthusiasm Kenyans have for the national team as well as the tournament and this will be extra motivation for McCarthy and his team to put in a great performance to avoid disappointing home supporters.

Kasarani now has a capacity of 55,000 fans after it was scaled down from 60,000 following the upgrades done at the facility and Harambee Stars would not have wished for a better start as they will be backed by a partisan crowd.

Kenya are in a tough Group A that has DR Congo, Morocco, Angola and Zambia and must start well to give themselves a chance of advancing to the knockout rounds as only two teams from the five will make it through.
