Ferdinand Omanyala Shifts Training Base as He Eyes Strong World Championships Amid Injury Concerns
Ferdinand Omanyala remains hopeful that he will be able to make a strong impression at the 2025 World Championships despite an injury that has slowed him down.
Omanyala is set to miss the Diamond League final in Zurich on Thursday after a hip injury which has raised concerns over whether he will be ready for the World Championships set to take place in two weeks’ time in Tokyo, Japan.
However, the Commonwealth champion remains confident in his preparations, and is counting on a change in training environment, to get him fully ready for the challenge in Tokyo.

“I have a slight hip problem that I hope will not come in the way of my preparations,” Omanyala told Telecomasia.net.
What is Giving Omanyala Hope of Change in Fortunes?
“We are working with my team to ensure that I am fit and ready. It is great being here in Miramas where I can totally concentrate on my preparation as I look forward to doing well at the World Championships. I know competition will be tougher this year but I will be there to compete.”
Omanyala has returned to Miramas, where he has camped before, including ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics, and hopes it will give him the peace of mind that he needs to improve his performance at the World Championships.
Africa’s fastest man is eyeing a change in fortunes this year after reaching the 2023 final but finishing a disappointing seventh although the injury and his form have put his fans in a spot of bother.
He has featured in few international races this season but he is yet to clock a sub-10 performance with his best time being 10.00 seconds at the Botswana Golden Grand Prix in April.
