Lawrence Wakabi marked his return to active rugby with two late tries to hand Kobs a bonus point win over Jinja Hippos Saturday evening at Legends.

The winger came on in the second half with Hippos pausing tough questions for the hosts.

First, he was set up by James Ijongat to beat his defender and touch down for Kobs’ fourth try of the game.

With the final play of the game, the winger sliced through the Hippos' defence to score the try that handed Kobs that much-needed bonus point.

Tough encounter

The start to games has been tough for Kobs in the first three games and it was the same case against Hippos.

The Jinja outfit was tough to break down and absorbed Kobs' pressure until Pius Ogena went over for the first try of the game.

Joseph Aredo was once again on top of his kicking game and converted four times to hand the hosts a hard fought victory.

Kobs were bouncing back after falling 17-15 to rivals Platinum Credit Heathens the week before.

Meanwhile, Pirates defeated Toyota Buffaloes 22-09 at King’s Park to stay top of the log while Makerere Impis edged Mulago Rams 23-21 in the Makerere derby at the Graveyard.

Heathens beat Rhinos 36-06 at Kyadondo while Plascon Mongers left it late in Jinja, beating Walukuba 27-25 for their first win of the season.
