Zico’s reign got off to a perfect start as Sofapaka thrashed Bidco United while Murang’a Seal scored a late equaliser against Kariobangi Sharks

Zedekia ‘Zico’ Otieno got off to a perfect start as the new coach of Sofapaka when he led them to a 3-0 thrashing of Bidco United in his first FKF Premier League match on Sunday.

Zico, who was unveiled early this week to help Batoto ba Mungu avoid relegation, had a dream start as his side were three goals to the good at halftime.

Jacob Onyango scored a brace, the first arriving early, before Darius Msagha made it 2-0 after 37 minutes and he completed his brace on the stroke of halftime.

Sofapaka started quickly and reaped the rewards for their enterprising display, leaving Bidco with a lot of work to do.

Zico’s men took the foot off the pedal in the second half, preferring to hold onto their huge lead, but their opponents still found it difficult to break them.

Victory ended Sofapaka’s run of three games without a win which left them in 16th place with 17 points, four ahead of bottom-placed Nzoia Sugar.

In the early kick off, Murang’a Seal fought from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Kariobangi Sharks.

Sharks had taken a 31st minute lead when Issac Wasambo swept home following a brilliant passing move from William Muluya’s men.

The slum boys held on and thought they had taken all three points but a corner from Eric Balecho was mishandled by Sharks goalkeeper Sesptianos Wekesa, who spilled the ball, and Titus Kapchanga capitalised on it to slot home the equaliser with what was the last kick of the game.
