Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno has urged Gor Mahia fans to support the team through all outcomes as they face AFC Leopards in a crucial Mashemeji derby.

Gor Mahia head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno has urged fans to stick by K’Ogalo’s side throughout the 90 minutes or more as they gear up for the Mashemeji derby against AFC Leopards at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homabay.

Gor Mahia go up against AFC Leopards in their second leg FKF Premier League, and having been postponed twice, fans are looking forward to seeing what their favourite team will manage to get from the match.

The first leg of the FKF Premier League match at the Nyayo National Stadium ended in a goalless draw, but both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will be looking to turn that around going into the second leg.

Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno: Take All the Results with Dignity

Ahead of the highly anticipated match, Zico has shared a passionate plea with Gor Mahia fans, cautioning them that anything can happen in that match.

He urged the fans to rally behind them for all 90 minutes, insisting that there are only three outcomes of a match and they should be ready for anything.

Zico further explained that in case of a loss, the fans should not cause any chaos but instead, just take all that in and understand that there is always a next time, and they can turn those fortunes around.

He pointed out that if Gor Mahia were to win all the matches, then football would be boring, hence the need to understand that anything is possible in a match, especially a derby.

“For me, I just want them to come and support us for the 90 minutes. In football, you can score at any time as long as the game is not over, so they should not give up hope in the team when we are maybe trailing,” Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno said.

“Also, sometimes it is very important to take the results with dignity because in a game of football, you only have three results: a win, a draw or a loss. It is always good to take any result with dignity because there’s always a next time.

“It’s good for them to understand that in football, you can’t win all your matches, and if other teams are coming knowing that you will beat them, why should there be a competition? It’s always good to appreciate any result.”

Gor Mahia currently lie third on the Kenya Premier League table with just 54 points. Kenya Police lead the table with 61 points while Tusker FC are second, with just a point ahead of Gor Mahia. On their part, AFC Leopards are sixth on the table with 46 points.
