Alex Iwobi was again brilliant as Everton left it late to secure a valuable point in their Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon at Molineux.
Everton were on the brink after Hee-Chan Wang put Wolves ahead in the first half. But a late goal from Yerry Mina helped the Toffees secure a vital point.
Iwobi was one of Everton’s best players on the day, with one key pass, two shots on target and one off target.
How it happened
Everton knew they had to at least pick something from the game as they battle to avoid the drop from the Premier League.
However, they started on the back foot, with Wolves dominating possession from the start. The Toffees offered little to no threat going forward, and would eventually pay for their lackadaisical start as Wolves took the lead.
Julen Lopetegui’s men took the lead in the 34th minute as Chang fired in a loose ball after Jordan Pickford spilled Adama Traore’s initial effort into his path.
Mina keeps Everton’s hopes alive
Chang’s goal ensured Wolves went into the break with the lead, but Everton raised their tempo in the second half.
The Toffees had 11 shots in the second half, with three on target. Iwobi played a key role in Everton’s impressive performance after the break, going close in the 52nd minute but was denied by Daniel Bentley.
