Two Premier League players were arrested at their club's stadium over allegations of rape and aiding an assault.

Two young players from a Premier League football club were dramatically arrested this weekend, each under serious allegations including rape and aiding in an assault.

The incident, which swiftly caught the attention of both fans and media, adds to a growing list of legal troubles that have beset the league's stars.

The arrests unfolded at the club’s stadium where one of the players was apprehended by the police during a planned operation.

According to sources, the 19-year-old was initially spoken to on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape.

"He was taken to a private room within the ground and was spoken to by police," as source revealed to The Sun.

After a brief interview, he left the stadium but was later arrested that same evening.

He reportedly spent the night in custody before being further questioned by detectives under caution.

His teammate, also 19, was arrested the following day on suspicion of rape.

The police action came after the alleged victim filed a formal complaint just hours after the incident allegedly took place on Friday night.

As the club reels from the arrest of its two young stars, a spokesman stated.

“As the matter is now in the hands of the police, the club will not be making further comment at this stage," he said.

Inside sources suggest that discussions on "next steps" for the players and their involvement with the club are already underway, though it remains unclear if the players have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Premier League has found itself marred by a series of high-profile sex scandals in recent years.

Notable cases include that of Mason Greenwood, a Manchester United striker who was suspended in 2022 following his arrest for attempted rape, though the charges were eventually dropped and he now plays on loan for Getafe in Spain.

Similarly former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy was cleared of multiple rape charges after two trials last year.
