Former Liverpool forward Divock Origi has broken his year-long silence with a touching message having slipped into oblivion following his nightmare AC Milan transfer.

Divock Origi has endured a tough time since leaving Liverpool for AC Milan in the summer of 2022.

The Belgian striker ended his six-year-stay at Liverpool following the end of his contract and moved to AC Milan as a free agent but what seemed to be a promising move quickly turned into a nightmare.

Origi signed a four-year contract worth a net salary of €4 million per year at Milan but he only played 1,187 minutes and scored two goals before the Italian giants decided that he was not cut for them.

He was shipped out on loan to Nottingham Forest for the 2023-24 season but one goal in 23 matches was reason enough not to sign him permanently and he returned to Milan ahead of the 2024-25 season.

However, there was still no place for him in the squad and without buyers, he has been left in the wilderness with even a decision to send him to the reserves still not helping his course.

The striker has kept mum over his predicament for the last one year until last week when he broke his silence following the tragic death of his former Liverpool team-mate Diogo Jota, who passed away in a car crash, alongside his brother Andre on July 3.

“Beyond words. Sending love and prayers to Diogo & Andre’s family, wife and kids. We will miss you. You’ll forever be remembered brother. 20 forever. You’ll Never Walk Alone,” Origi posted on Instagram in what was his first social media post in one year.

Origi and Jota played together at Liverpool for two years between 2020 and 2022 before the former left at the end of his deal and he is among stars who have sent their tributes following the death of the 28-year-old.

Fans will be hoping to hear more from Origi, who still has one year left on his Milan contract, as after a year out in the wilderness, he needs to find a new club quickly to avoid slipping into oblivion.

The striker has seen his value plummet to just €1 million as per Transfermarkt, having been valued as high as €20 million in 2019.
