Tusker failed to break down the tough tackling Simba wa Nairobi.

In a game defined by a series of fouls that prevented the game from finding any real sense of rhythm, Tusker were unable to get all three points against a spirited Nairobi City Stars, drawing 0-0 with the Simba wa Nairobi.

Tuker started brightly and nearly opened the scoring in the third minute, but striker Deogracious Ojok's shot went over the bar.

After withstanding some amount of pressure in the opening 20 minutes, Stars settled into the game, and their first real chance came in the 25th minute, when right winger, Samuel Kapen beat Leonlevit Otieno at pace before crossing it to Kevin Etemesi, but his shot went way over the bar.

They would then force set piece situations upon the Brewers, giving Keeper Brian Bwire of Tusker some work to do. A well constructed corner kick move between Etemesi and Kevin Wanjala in the 28th minute required Bwire's excellent shot-stopping skills to be put to the test.

Stars would then continue creating more opportunities, with Kapen and Samuel Kisilu making excellent runs off Denis Owalo's excellent hold up play.

Stars continued to express their confidence from their recent good run of form, keeping possession tidily, and had yet another attempt at goal in the 38th minute, but Kapen's shot was hit straight into the hands of Bwire.

Stars continued to take advantage of Tusker's tendency to lose possession in dangerous areas, and another counter attacking opportunity won them a free kick in a dangerous area in the 43rd minute, but Vincent Owino could only hit the ball just over the bar.

The Brewers would get a free kick of their own just before the break after Ojok won a free kick in a dangerous area, but Opiyo's shot was deflected by the Stars' wall for a corner.

Stars started brightly in the second half and won a freekick just after the break when Michael Kibwage fouled Oala outside the box,but Kennedy Onyango’s resulting freekick sailed wide.

After a lack of real inroads created, Robert Matano was quick to make early changes to the side. In came Siwa Shapan and Shami Mwinyi for Eric Mmata and David Odoyo.

Nicholas Muyoti decided to sub off Kisilu and Etemesi for Levis Okello and James Mazembe in efforts to try and stretch the Tusker defense, and the tactical substitution gave Tusker all sorts of problems.

Kapen was booked shortly afterwards for fouling Tusker captain, Humphrey Mieno, who appeared to go down with a serious knock, but was able to shake it off and carry on.

Tusker had the opportunity from yet another freekick yet again in a dangerous area in the 85th minute, but Otieno’s shot went just wide of Steve Njuge’s net.
