The Rising Stars prodigy Aldrine Kibet is set to join a top Spanish La Liga club after impressing scouts in Europe.

Kenya U20 midfielder Aldrine Kibet is reportedly on the verge of a historic leap in his football career after reportedly completing a €6 million transfer to Spanish La Liga side Celta Vigo.

The 18-year-old prodigy’s meteoric rise has seen him progress from dazzling in local tournaments to capturing the attention of scouts across Europe.

"Kenyan wonderkid Aldrine Kibet has completed a €6 million transfer to Spanish La Liga side Celta Vigo. The 18-year-old U20 star’s move marks a major milestone in his football journey; elevating him from local hero to a rising force on the global stage," reported X user Esther Passaris.

According to sources close to the family, Kibet’s parents travelled to Spain last night as the youngster edges closer to finalising personal terms and completing the necessary paperwork.

However, it remains to be seen whether Celta Vigo will integrate him directly into their senior squad or allow him to develop further through their youth system, which has nurtured talents who have gone on to star in La Liga.

Kibet’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. In January 2024, he made his debut for Kenya’s national U20 team, where he caught the eye with a string of standout performances at a tournament held in Malawi.

His displays not only solidified his place in the squad but also underscored his reputation as one of East Africa’s most promising young footballers.

Kibet first announced himself to Kenyan football enthusiasts in August 2023 during the Kenya School Sports Association (KSSA) tournament, representing St. Anthony’s Kitale.

Those exploits paved the way for his move to Europe later that year when he joined Nastic Soccer Academy in Tarragona, Spain. The transition exposed him to high-level coaching and professional structures, giving him the ideal platform to sharpen his talent and prepare for life in top-flight football.

During his stint in Spain, Kibet has continued to turn heads with his ability to dictate play from midfield.

He has also maintained remarkable consistency whenever he dons Kenyan colours, having represented the Rising Stars with distinction.

Recognition Beyond Borders

Long before European scouts took notice, Kibet was already tipped for stardom. In 2018, he was named the best player at the Wanyama Royal Cup, a grassroots tournament hosted by former Harambee Stars captain and ex-Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama.

His reputation as a gifted young talent continued to grow when English Premier League side Everton visited Kenya.

During the visit, Kibet was among a select group of emerging footballers chosen to showcase their abilities in front of foreign scouts in Nakuru—a moment that further raised his profile.
