Shummah was named man of the match as Homeboyz hunted down AFC Leopards to seal a place in the final of the Mozzart Bet Cup

Kakamega Homeboyz forward Moses Shummah is angling to make history at the club by taking part and helping the club win its maiden trophy and qualify for continental competition next season.

Shumma scored the opening goal for Homeboyz in their 2-1 win over AFC Leopards in the Mozzart Bet Cup semi final fixture played at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday.

“The guys were focused and wanted it in training,” he said, “the way they pushed for it gave us that win in the end,’ he added.

Shummah was named man of the match as Hoemboyz continued to “own” Leopards in the words of Cleophas Shimanyula, but the forward believes that the team is more important.

“It is a good feeling to score but even more difficult to take it till the last minute to score. It would have counted for nothing if I had scored but we did not win.”

“It means alot (to get to the final) so much. I hope we will be twice as lucky in the final again. The win will motivate us because the dream is to play abroad.

The striker has netted five goals for Homeboyz all season, but will be seeking to add more consistent output to his game.

It is the first time in history that Homeboyz have stormed the final of the knockout competition whose winner will represent Kenya in the CAF Confederations Cup next season.

In the final planned for July 1, the Western-based side will face Tusker, who earlier in the day defeated Ulinzi Stars 1-0 courtesy of substitute Erick Otieno’s goal.
