Thomas Oduor: Mara Sugar mourns beloved CEO amidst promotion push

Mara Sugar FC is mourning the sudden loss of their CEO on his birthday amidst their push for league promotion.

National Super League (NSL) side Mara Sugar FC is enveloped in sorrow after the unexpected demise of their Chief Executive Officer and Team Manager Thomas Oduor who passed away on his birthday. 

The club, currently a strong contender for promotion to the FKF Premier League, confirmed the tragic news on Tuesday.

The cause of Oduor's death has not been disclosed leaving the football fans in shock.

Under Oduor's leadership, Mara Sugar FC has enjoyed a successful season and is at the top of the league standings with 62 points after 29 matches. 

The Sugar Millers' performance this season includes 19 wins, five draws, and five losses. 

Their hopes are high this year following a near miss last season when they were defeated in the playoffs by Muhoroni Youth.

"The Chairman and the Millers Family, the Technical Team, Players, Management, Supporters of the Green Nation. It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the passing of our Club CEO Thomas Odour. Our condolences go out to the entire Family. Rest in peace Boss. You will forever be in our hearts.!" Mara Sugar FC said in a statement.

Other clubs, including Luanda Villa, have also expressed their condolences, highlighting Oduor's passion for football and his lasting impact on the sport.

 "Our deepest condolences flow from Luanda Villa Soccer Club  to Mara Sugar FC on the passing of their revered team manager. Their presence on the touchline was more than just leadership; it was a beacon of passion, dedication, and unwavering support. May their legacy echo through every goal scored, every victory celebrated, and every challenge overcome," Luanda Villa posted on their official social media pages.

Oduor's death casts a shadow over what has been an otherwise promising season for Mara Sugar FC. 

His legacy will undoubtedly serve as motivation for the team as they continue their campaign in his memory.
