Shabana FC makes a major January transfer window signing from record FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Shabana Football FC have announced their first major signing of the January transfer window.

Tore Bobe have secured the services of the talented defender Alvin 'Chicha' Ochieng from the record league champions Gor Mahia.

Alvin 'Chicha' Ochieng, a speedy fullback renowned for his defensive prowess, has previously plied his trade with FC Talanta.

However, this promising young talent will now don the Shabana jersey from K'Ogalo for the rest of the season.

Ochieng had initially joined Gor Mahia at the start of the season on a three-year deal, but his journey has now taken an exciting turn.

The announcement was made with great enthusiasm by the Kisii-based side.

"From GorMahia FC, the negotiations were fruitful.Alvin 'Chicha' Odhiambo, a talented and top notch Right Back has penned the dotted line," the club stated.

Before his move to Shabana, Alvin 'Chicha' Ochieng had an eventful career that saw him play for various clubs.

He had previously represented Wazito FC and Kisumu All-Stars before joining Gor Mahia.

His decision to join Gor Mahia was a significant one, but he faced fierce competition within the team, with players like Rooney Onyango, Paul Ochuoga, and captain Philemon Otieno occupying his position.

Despite the challenges, Ochieng celebrated success at Gor Mahia, winning the FKF Community Shield with the club after a thrilling penalty shootout victory against Kakamega Homeboyz at the Kasarani Stadium in August.

Ochieng's journey in the FKFPL began with Kisumu All Stars, where he played a pivotal role in helping the team secure promotion to the topflight league during the 2018/2019 season.

He later made a move to Wazito in 2020 but had a brief loan spell back at Kisumu All Stars before signing for FC Talanta at the beginning of the last season.

Shaban are currently facing the challenge of maintaining their position in the league.

Occupying the 17th position in the league table, Shabana has accumulated 17 points from 19 matches and finds themselves in the relegation zone.
