Harambee Stars prospect Sammy Henia-Kamau has officially parted ways with English Championship side Swansea City FC, becoming a free agent ahead of the 2025-26 season.

The move marks a significant shift in Henia-Kamau’s career, just a few years after he rose to prominence through Jersey Bulls FC, where he stunned fans with his blistering pace, natural finishing, and knack for goal.

"Swansea City can confirm the club’s retained list ahead of the 2025-26 Championship campaign," read a statement from the club, confirming the departure of multiple players including Henia-Kamau, Richard Faakye, Ben Hughes, and Kiel Higginson, among others.

Bright Beginnings and Rising Reputation

Sammy Henia-Kamau burst onto the scene as a teenager at Jersey Bulls FC, where he became the youngest player to score a hat-trick for the club’s first team.

His performances at youth level earned him the prestigious Sid Guy Award in June 2022 for the most outstanding player at the Jersey FA’s Centre of Excellence.

Kamau scored 20 goals in just 15 games for the Bulls’ Under-16s across all competitions and added six more for their Under-18 side, catching the attention of scouts across the UK.

That form eventually led to his recruitment into Swansea City's academy setup, where he had been expected to develop into a first-team contender.

Next Steps for the Harambee Hopeful

While the news of his release may come as a surprise to many, it also opens the door to fresh opportunities for the young striker, who is eligible to represent Kenya internationally.

With his goal-scoring pedigree and youthful energy, Henia-Kamau is expected to attract interest from clubs both in the UK and abroad.

The Swans, meanwhile, are undergoing a period of transition, with senior players like Joe Allen and Kyle Naughton also exiting the club.

In contrast, younger talents such as Cameron Congreve have had their contracts extended, signaling a potential change in developmental priorities.

Everyone at Swansea City wished the departing players well: "Everyone at Swansea City wishes all departing players every success for the future, and thanks them for their contributions."
