Salah scored twice against Manchester United to eclipse Robbie Fowler on Liverpool's all-time top scorer list
Liverpool’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has further his legendary status at the club by becoming the club’s top scorer in Premier League history.
Salah beats Fowler record in Manchester United pummeling
Salah scored twice in Liverpool’s 7-0 mauling of Manchester United at Anfield, and in the process, overtook Robbie Fowler to become the Reds’ top scorer in Premier League history.
Salah scored Liverpool’s fourth and sixth goals on the night, and reached 129 goals, passing Fowler’s 128 goals, the last of which was scored in the 2001/02 season in a hat-trick against Leicester City.
Salah's goals against Manchester United also saw him become the first Liverpool player to score against Manchester United in six consecutive appearances.
The Egyptian legend reached the 129-goal milestone in only 205 matches, another testament to the amazing work that Salah has done in his time with Liverpool despite being at the club for only five and half seasons.
Salah writing his name into Liverpool folklore
Salah recently became Liverpool’s leading goalscorer in European competition with his goal against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League first leg, and has now claimed the record for the Premier League as well.
Despite being the highest goalscorer in the Premier League era for Liverpool, Salah is still not Liverpool’s top scorer in all league competition, as that honour goes to Roger Hunt, who scored 244 goals in the pre-Premier League era.
Salah may well go on to reach Hunt’s record and many more, including Ian Rush’s record of 346 goals in all competitions if he keeps his incredible performances and fitness levels up for a few more seasons with Liverpool.
