Galatasaray reportedly set to outbid Chelsea and Man United to sign Osimhen
Victor Osimhen's sensational form in Turkey has reportedly prompted Galatasaray to consider a big-money permanent deal for the Nigerian striker.
When asked if he believes Osimhen, already a standout talent in European football, can reach an even higher level, Mertens placed the onus on the 26-year-old himself.
“You need to ask him that, but I think he can still achieve more,” Mertens said.

“If he expects from himself more, the hunger to score every minute, not every game, but every 10 minutes, after one, you have to go for two. I think he needs to take the ball more at home, push himself even more.”
Mertens, who shares a close bond with Osimhen from their time together at Napoli and now at Galatasaray, didn’t just focus on individual glory.
He also praised the Nigerian’s unselfish play, noting how his tireless work rate benefits the team.
“You know what he does also? He makes a lot of space for other players because the runs that he makes, he opens a lot for others. So, he makes it easier for me or others. That’s also something.”
