"We believe this to be an isolated incident and we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with it," said Deputy Chief Constable Jenny Sims, adding that a 53-year-old British man had been arrested.

"We are not treating this as a terrorist incident," she noted.

Thousands of fans gathered in Liverpool city center to celebrate the club's 20th top-flight English football title.

Their procession wound through the city on an approximately 10-mile route. An open-top bus carrying Liverpool players was part of the parade.

The incident occurred after 6 p.m. local time (7 p.m. CEST). Video circulating on social media shows the driver repeatedly changing direction within the crowd, seemingly intending to hit as many people as possible.

Witnesses attempted to stop him, with several individuals thrown over the hood of the vehicle. Police eventually intervened and apprehended the man as he was surrounded by the crowd.

Emergency services quickly arrived and transported the injured.
