A deeply disturbing incident occurred during Liverpool's title celebrations.
Liverpool's Premier League title parade was marred by a disturbing incident when a car struck fans celebrating the team's victory.
The Reds clinched the title at the end of April but waited until the final matchday to lift the trophy.
The parade commenced shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday (May 26th), with players like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah leading the way atop the bus.
Thousands of fans from across the country flooded the streets of Liverpool, but their joy was overshadowed by the accident, which occurred shortly after 6 p.m.
Videos circulating online showed police responding to the scene on Water Street. It is not yet known if there were any injuries.
In a statement, police said: "We are investigating reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city centre. A car collided with pedestrians on Water Street shortly after 6 p.m. The car stopped at the scene and a man has been arrested. Emergency services are at the scene. We will issue further updates as soon as we have more information."
The North West Ambulance Service stated: "We are responding to an incident in Liverpool city centre following reports of a road traffic collision. We are assessing the situation and working with other emergency services. Our priority is to ensure that people receive the necessary medical assistance as quickly as possible."
The incident cast a shadow over a day meant for celebration, following Liverpool's historic 20th league title win.
The parade followed a 10-mile route, starting at the Allerton Maze and heading north along Queens Drive, mirroring the route taken in 2019 when the Reds last won the league.
