Heroes were leading 2-1 at half-time against the hosts.

A hard-fought National Super League (NSL) encounter at the Mbaraki Sports Club on Monday afternoon ended in a 2-2 draw between Mombasa Elite and Coastal Heroes.

As a result, Elite moved to ninth spot on the league table, while Heroes moved up to 11th spot on the log.

Mombasa Elite got off to a flying start and opened the scoring in the second minute through Emmanuel Chagwe, putting them in charge of the game from early on.

Ali Ghalib came close to scoring the second just after the quarter-hour mark after latching on to a cross unmarked on the far side of the box, but he blasted his volley straight to Emuria Issa in goal.

Heroes started putting Elite under pressure, and they leveled matters in the 27th minute of the match.

The momentum was with Heroes and they were soon 2-1 up just a minute before the break, keeping themselves in the contest as the game went for a breather.

The second half was a tense affair, with the Coastal Heroes goalkeeper Said Dhadho generally well protected by his defense. However, in the 90th minute, Emmanuel Chagwe netted for Elite to secure a 2-2 draw.
