Mohammed Bajaber has narrated how a new PE teacher's mentorship proved to be the turning point in Mohammed Bajaber's rise from schoolboy to Harambee Stars standout.

Mohammed Bajaber stands out as one of Harambee Stars’ top talents, yet few know the story behind his rise to prominence.

The prolific midfielder started his career at a young age, when in primary school, Premier Academy, but it was not until high school that his star started shining bright.

There is no doubt that Mohammed Bajaber had the talent, but it was Veer Dave, a new physical education teacher and coach, who gave him the wings to fly.

Veer Dave went ahead to found the Star Field Elite Academy, where Mohammed Bajaber found his feet and never looked back.

While at the academy, in 2021, Mohammed Bajaber 2021 attended trials at Danish top-tier side FC Midtjylland but could not make the cut. However, he was spotted by Nairobi City Stars, who signed him in February 2022.

Mohammed Bajaber earned his Premier League debut on May 15, 2022, in Ruaraka against Tusker. Mohammed Bajaber then signed with Kenya Police in February 2025 and was very instrumental as they won the Kenya Premier League title.

Mohammed Bajaber said he had always wanted to be a professional footballer and that, although they did not exactly idolise players, they looked up to them.

The Harambee Stars midfielder added that growing up watching Arsenal made that lifestyle a dream, which is how it all started.

“In primary and secondary schools, I played for Premier Academy. I played in Ligi Ndogo for a bit, when I was in the academy, when I was around nine to 11 and then stopped and went back to play in high school, and I became the captain,” Mohammed Bajaber said in an interview on NTV’s Sport On.

“When I was about 16, a new coach, a new PE teacher, was introduced, and he was very influential in my career.

“He came and introduced new training techniques and started his own academy called Star Field, the one that I was spotted by City Stars and the one that helped me get a trial in Denmark. He was really influential and changed my life.”

Mohammed Bajaber’s journey from schoolboy dreamer to Premier League champion is a testament to raw talent and the right mentorship. His story is still unfolding as he continues to make his mark with Harambee Stars and Kenya Police FC.
