In a thrilling climax to the National Super League (NSL), Mara Sugar is set to face off against Mwatate United in a highly anticipated match at Wundanyi Stadium in Taita.

Mara Sugar head coach Francis Xavier has expressed confidence in his team's readiness as they gear up to face Mwatate United in a National Super League clash at Wundanyi Stadium in Taita.

The game is of utmost importance for the sugar millers, currently placed fourth in the league, as a victory would secure them a playoff spot against Wazito FC if third-placed Migori Youth fail to beat MCF.

With Migori sitting on 59 points and Mara trailing closely behind with 57, this final match of the season will determine which team will secure the coveted playoff spot.

In an interview with Pulse Sports, Francis Xavier emphasised his team's preparedness and determination.

"We are well prepared for the match, and what we will be going for is a win. My boys are set and geared up to win and book a place in the playoffs," he said.

The former Kenya international acknowledged the fierce competition from Migori Youth, who have an advantage over them in the league table.

"As you know, we have our opponents, fighting for the same spot," Xavier added. "So, for us, we are focused on winning, and from there we will plan against Wazito in the playoffs."

The stakes are high for both Mara Sugar and Migori Youth, as the outcome of this crucial match will have a significant impact on their season.

The coach's unwavering belief in his team's abilities and eagerness to claim victory sets the stage for an intense showdown on the field.

Looking beyond the NSL, the recent promotion of Shabana and Murang'a Seal to the FKF Premier League serves as a reminder of the rewards that await successful teams in their pursuit of excellence.

The journey to the top-tier league is not an easy one, and the playoff matches against Wazito FC will undoubtedly test the mettle of both Migori and Mara Sugar.

Wazito FC, who finished 16th in the FKF Premier League, find themselves in a precarious position, as they will fight tooth and nail to remain in the league or face relegation.

The NSL teams vying for promotion will have the opportunity to challenge Wazito FC, hoping to secure their place in the esteemed Premier League.

Wazito have home ground advantage in the two-legged playoff with the first round slated for July 12 in Muhoroni while the corresponding fixture will take place three days later either in Awendo or Migori Stadium.
