Kenya Police went from bottom of the league in November to league champions by June, knocking Gor Mahia off their perch.

Five games into the current FKF Premier League season, Kenya Police were totally out of form and out of sorts, and by November, were languishing rock bottom of the league.

If you had told anyone back then that the Law Enforcers would go on to win the league that season, they would have rubbished your claims outright.

Well, Police ended up pipping Gor Mahia and Tusker to the league title with a game to spare, making it the first time in their history that they are champions of Kenya and will be representing the country at next season’s CAF Champions League.

Who better to give an account of how they turned around their fortunes, than the players themselves?

The club chose to part ways with Salim Babu -who had led them to their first ever FKF Cup title the year before - and Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani, who had been appointed given his CAF A license credentials that July.

In their place, the club appointed Etienne Ndayiragije to help them turnaround their fortunes

Harambee Stars defender Abud Omar, who has been a key figure of the side bombing up and down the left flank, has attributed the turnaround down to a crisis meeting the playing unit had that made them style up.

“I thank God because we have had a tough season,” said the Harambee Stars international.

“We had five games in hand after our continental assignments, and we did not take those games seriously which is why we started badly.

“We however had a meeting amongst ourselves as players and decided to step up, even before the officials and technical staff intervened. We started performing from then on.”

Omar believes that players taking ownership of their performances was the catalyst for the club’s historic success.

From NSL Struggles to FKF Glory: Kinanga Reflects on Club’s Long Journey

Clinton Kinanga is the last man standing in Kenya Police's moneyed success.

For striker Clinton Kinanga—the only player who has been with the side since its days in the National Super League—the league triumph marked a long-awaited dream.

“This is history achieved,” said Kinanga. “Back when we were in the NSL where we stayed for six or seven years, we knew we would get promoted one day.

“ We set ourselves a target of winning the league, but we didn’t know it would take less than four years. So it is a magnificent achievement.”

The title win means Kenya Police FC will now represent the country in the 2025 CAF Confederation Cup—a fitting reward for a season of resilience, reinvention, and redemption.

Kenya Police will wrap up their historic campaign with a symbolic final fixture against Gor Mahia at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata — a poetic ending to a season that saw Muguna rise again, this time in new colours and with a new legacy.
