According to Legit.com, an elderly man, Omuyiwa John, was seen accusing Osimhen of abandoning his hometown, his family members and some of the residents there.

John claimed that he is related to Victor Osimhen’s father, Patrick, noting that they even attended the same primary school. He revealed that Victor Osimhen’s father moved to Lagos and found a wife.

The elderly man added that when Patrick’s wife died, it was the community that raised funds and aided in the completion of their marriage rites.

"My name is Omuyiwa John, and the person beside me is Monday Egbe. We are around Olenokwa in Okhuesan, Esan South East LGA in Edo State," he shared in a post on Facebook.

"Osimhen's father has the same grandfather as me, and I am surprised how he disowned us. His father, Patrick Osimhen, grew up with us, and we attended the same primary school.

"From here, he learnt driving before going to Lagos and got married in Obiaruku in the Delta side. Even when his mother died, they put her in the mortuary and compelled us to do the marriage rites before she could be buried because she gave birth to plenty of children."

"The father came from Lagos and begged us for money. The whole money was contributed money and went to Obiaruku to do everything before we were allowed to bury."

He added that the people from his hometown were privileged to watch Victor Osimhen during a UEFA Champions League tie.

"Osimhen has never stepped into our community, even when his father died, the children buried his father in Lagos instead of bringing his corpse to the village, which is traditionally not acceptable," John said.

While Victor Osimhen has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most generous sports stars, the recent backlash from his hometown paints a more complex picture.

As the controversy unfolds, all eyes will be on how Victor Osimhen chooses to respond, if at all.
