Gor Mahia utilized their lack of a fixture this weekend with an in-house clash following their postponed Mashemeji Derby.

Gor Mahia have taken advantage of their lack of action this weekend with an internal clash following their postponed Mashemeji Derby against AFC Leopards.

The FKF Premier League champions were set to take on their bitter rivals on Sunday at Kasarani, but the fixture was postponed due to the venue not being a viable option for hosting the high-stakes clash and no other stadium was deemed suitable.

Internal Derby Keeps Squad Sharp

With no competitive action, Sinisa Mihic's charges took part in an in-house friendly, with Gor taking on Mahia.

"Since we are not involved in any competitive game this weekend, we decided to do an internal 'derby' match where Gor faced Mahia in a very tight and fierce match at the training ground — a derby of its kind," the club communicated via X.

The in-house derby saw Mahia donning white overcome Gor in green, 2-1.

Midfielder Austin Odhiambo and Sharif Musa netted for Mahia, while Christopher Ochieng scored the consolation for Gor.

The clash helps Mihic's charges stay match-fit as they aim to defend their title.

The 21-time champions are eyeing a record-extending title but face stiff competition from league leaders Kenya Police and Tusker.

K'Ogalo, however, have a game in hand on both teams, the postponed Mashemeji Derby.

With four games to go, five for Gor Mahia, the FKFPL champions cannot afford to slip up.
