Darajani Gogo climbed to the fifth spot on the table while Black Stars dropped to 14th place.

A busy Saturday afternoon of National Super League (NSL) action saw Darajani Gogo inflict misery on Kibera Black Stars while Naivas snapped a two-game winless run with a convincing victory against Kajiado FC.

Gogo had to hold off a strong Black Stars with a 1-0 victory in a match played at Ligi Dogo Grounds in Nairobi, thanks to Ronald Okello’s strike in the first half.

In the wake of the win, Gogo moved to the fifth spot with 43 points from 28 games in their campaign.

Black Stars began the match well as they pressed Gogo, but they were wasteful, with the forwards missing the target on two occasions.

Gogo grew into the game, and they should have taken the lead when Fredrick Mutinda was sent through on goal, but he was denied by Black Stars goalkeeper Baraza.

The Hawks were leading 1-0 at halftime, with the lone goal coming from Okello in the 35th minute of the match.

The winger beat the Black Stars custodian with a decent finish to seal Gogo’s narrow 1-0 win over their Kibera rivals, who were unable to grab a late equalizer.

Meanwhile, Naivas moved to the seventh position on the table with a 2-1 victory over Kajiado FC in a match played at camp Toyoyo.

Both goals for Naivas were netted in the first stanza by John Walubuka and Austin Ochieng, while Kajiado FC found their goal with closing stages of the half courtesy of Bwana Shukuri.

Elsewhere, Mombasa Elite recorded a hard-fought victory over a resilient Vihiga United side at the Mumias Sports Complex.

After a goalless first half which saw Elite threaten the Vihiga goal on a few occasions, the coastal-based side finally found the back of the net in the 66th minute of the match.

Woudvine Okoth benefitted from Emmanuel Lunalo’s creativity and made no mistake.

In the day’s early kick-off, goals from Dockins Adeya and Beja Nyamawi saw SS Assad come from behind to beat Mara Sugar 2-1 in a match played at Awendo Green Stadium.

Saturday’s NSL results;

Mara Sugar 1-2 SS Assad

Vihiga United 0-1 Mombasa Elite

Kibera Black Stars 0-1 Darajani Gogo
