The stadium is expected to be one of the key venues for AFCON 2027, which East Africa will host for the first time in history.

Following his tour, Infantino hailed the project as a symbol of Kenya’s commitment to raising football standards both regionally and globally.

“What I’ve seen here is very impressive,” Infantino said. “Talanta Sports City is not just a stadium; it is an investment in the future of football in Kenya and across East Africa. With projects like this, the 2027 AFCON will be unforgettable.”

The FIFA boss noted that infrastructure development is critical for the growth of football on the continent, pointing out that such projects create opportunities for players, fans, and the wider community.

Kenya’s successful co-hosting of the CHAN 2024 tournament has already showcased the region’s passion for the game, with packed stadiums and improved infrastructure.

With work accelerating on the stadium and government pledges to complete it well ahead of 2027, Talanta Sports City is on course to become a sporting landmark for Kenya.
