Benson Omala has run into headwinds at a club abroad once again after parting ways with Cambodian side Visakha FC, five months into a three-year contract.
Kenyan striker Benson Omala is searching for a new club once again, five months after he seemed to have found a new home and secured his future.
Omala left Gor Mahia for Cambodian Premier League club Visakha FC in July but he is back in Kenya after the club confirmed a parting of ways for reasons that are yet to be revealed.
The striker had signed a three-year deal with Visakha FC, hoping to begin a fresh chapter of his career abroad, but he lasted less than six months, coming home after playing eight matches and scoring three goals.

Cambodian Club Confirms Omala’s Exit
"Thank you, player Benson Ochieng, for your hard work and dedication in helping our club over the past period. We wish Benson the very best of luck and continued success in his career going forward," Visakha posted on their official Facebook page on Tuesday.
It is still not known why the forward has ended another move abroad so quickly but it adds onto a catalogue of unsuccessful transfers abroad for the former Western Stima striker.
Omala had seen a move to Lebanon in 2024 run into headwinds when he joined Al-Safa FC, a club he left as soon as he had signed, claiming unpaid wages and a contract breach, while a war in the country also saw the league suspended.
Ex-Gor Mahia Striker Rarely Lasts Abroad
After spending the first half of the 2024-25 season out, Gor Mahia offered him a lifeline as he rejoined the club early this year but he was not as prolific as his first stint in a season when K’Ogalo finished second in the FKF Premier League and lost the FKF Cup final.
Omala had also had an unsuccessful six-month spell with Swedish side FC Linkoping City in 2021 before he returned to Gor Mahia and fired them to back-to-back league titles, scoring a record-equalling 26 goals in 2022-23 and 19 in 2023-24, which earned him the transfer to Lebanon.
The striker is back in Kenya and has reportedly been training on his own as he plots his next move ahead of the January transfer window.
