Austin Odhiambo Bags Major Win at Pulse Influencer Awards 2025

Gor Mahia star Austin Odhiambo was crowned Sports Influencer Of The Year 2025 at the prestigious Pulse Awards ceremony.

Harambee Stars and Gor Mahia attacking midfielder Austin Odhiambo has once again proven why he remains one of Kenya’s most influential sports personalities after being crowned the Sports Influencer of the Year 2025 at the Pulse Influencer Awards.

The awards were officially held on Friday, 7 November 2025, at the Pulse Kenya offices, with nominations managed by Pulse Sports’ sister brand, Pulse Live, which coordinated the selection process for influencers.

Odhiambo emerged victorious in the highly competitive "Sports Influencer of the Year" category.

The 25-year-old  was nominated alongside a list of Kenyan sports personalities and entities, including Njoroge Kibugu, Box to Box Regista, Silva Kido, and Zoza Sports Cast. The formidable list also featured Tabitha Makumi, FC Bandari Youth, Nairobi City Thunder, veteran journalist Carol Radull, and Vincent Isika (Wollap Wollap).

 “Congratulations Austin Odhiambo for winning Sports Influencer Of The Year 2025,” read the announcement. 

Nicknamed the “Rolls Royce” by adoring Gor Mahia fans for his smoothness and control, and even hailed by some as the “Kenyan JJ Okocha”, Odhiambo is a player who excites, entices, and elevates the game. 

His influence was previously cemented during the stellar 2023/24 season. 

His exceptional performances for Gor Mahia and the Harambee Stars did not go unnoticed, leading to him receiving the coveted Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at the FKF Gala.

Austin Odhiambo Otieno's journey to the top has been closely followed by Kenyan football enthusiasts. 

Before joining his current club, the Kenyan attacking midfielder was a key player for AFC Leopards. His impressive performances and consistent goal contributions at Ingwe caught the attention of Gor Mahia’s scouts, leading to his high-profile transfer to the club in 2021.

The attacking midfielder made his debut for the Harambee Stars, Kenya’s national football team, in 2018. 

Since then, he has been a key contributor to the team’s success, using his creativity, vision, and skill on the ball to unlock opposing defenses. 

His performances have helped the team in crucial campaigns and to secure important victories.

 His development has been consistent, having also been part of the Kenya U20 and U23 sides, showing a clear progression through the national ranks.
