AFC Leopards legend Boniface Ambani plans major changes in the squad following his election as the club’s new chairman on Sunday.
Newly-elected AFC Leopards chairman Boniface Ambani has prioritised a squad overhaul at the club to have a strong team in place ahead of next season.
Ambani was elected chairman on Sunday to succeed Dan Shikanda and he has a big job on his hands to transform the fallen Kenyan giants, who have not won a trophy since 2017.
While he understands the scale of the job on his hands, Ambani recognises that the club first needs to put together a winning team before they can start dreaming of winning trophies.

“We have to do an audit of the playing unit to know who is leaving and who is remaining and also who are the players we target for the new season. We want to build a very strong team for the new season to compete for trophies.
“AFC leopards is a giant and we should be winning and, in my tenure, this is something I want to ensure becomes a norm.”
Winning is not something Leopards have been accustomed to as since their FKF Cup win in 2017, they have not come close to lifting another trophy, while it is now 27 years since their last Premier League title.
Ambani was part of the Class of 1998 that won Ingwe’s last title and there is hope that he is the man to return them to the winners’ podium with his brother Fred now the head coach.
