Track and field fans have hit out at Noah Lyles after his comment regarding who is the fastest woman between Sha'Carri Richardson and Julien Alfred.
Olympics 100m champion Noah Lyles has reignited debate over who is the world's fastest athlete yet again.
Lyles has always divided opinion over his constant comments that he is the fastest man in the world thanks to his Olympics gold medal in Paris last year.
Not many agree with it as some feel that title should go to either the runner with the fastest time of the year while others think it should be the world record holder.
Staying true to his belief, Lyles says world champion Sha'Carri Richardson is not the world's fastest female athlete but that title belongs to Olympics champion Julien Alfred.

Usain Bolt reveals why Yohan Blake deserves credit for London Olympics relay record
Usain Bolt has spoken glowingly of the big task accomplished by Yohan Blake when Team Jamaica broke the 4x100m relay world record at the 2012 London Olympics.
“Well, Sha’Carri Richardson is not the world’s best… Julien Alfred is," Lyles said on The Toure Show.
Richardson went into the Olympics as the woman to beat given she is the reigning world champion but the St Lucia athlete stunned her to win gold in 10.72 seconds as she settled for silver in 10.87 seconds.

Alfred dominated over Sha’Carri Richardson for most of their clashes in 2024 but one area the American triumphed is on time as she ran 0.01 seconds faster, having clocked 10.71 seconds, to take the crown of the fastest woman in 2024.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Alfred clinched gold in the 100m in 10.72 seconds, while Richardson took silver in 10.87 seconds.

Overall, Richardson still has a better time than Richardson as her 10.65 seconds achieved when winning her world title in Budapest, Hungry in 2023 trumps over Alfred's 10.72 seconds at the Olympics.
It's perhaps for this reason that fans went hard on Lyles over his latest comments.
"lmao he mad, Kishane (Thompson) has the faster time and so does carri (Sha'Carri)...until juju (Julien) or Lyles run faster times than that they aren't the fastest," replied a fan.
"Noah Lyles needs to stop with this 'world's faster.' This title is awarded to the person with the fastest time in the 100m. Julien Alfred is the Olympic champion in the 100m and Sha'carri Richardson is the 2023 world champion in the 100m," another one responded.
"Noah seems very petty… no excuse for his passive aggressive presentation. Besides, it seems as though Noah is jealous of Sha'Carri’s relevancy within the sport. He could learn something from Sha'Carri but he rather discredit her accomplishments thus far. Noah seems very petty!"

ATHLETICS Goons steal Fred Kerley’s vehicle in broad daylight (VIDEO)
The 29-year-old has called for concerned parties to help him track his vehicle after it was stolen from his house in broad daylight by a couple of goons
"Lol, the fastest woman in the world is Elaine Thompson-Herah. The fastest woman in the world ever is Florence Griffith Joyner. The fastest woman in 2023 was Shacarri Richardson, and 2024 was Julien Alfred. But, you have to remove ETH (Elaine Thompson-Herah) from the world for someone else to be," another fan said.
"This is the part of Noah that’s so weird, he goes against other Black Americans in his own country. You’d never see an African or Jamaican go against their own country like Noah. SMH just dumb as hell to do," was the response from another fan.
"Why is he being messy and anti-America? I get that he is showing respect to an Olympic champion but SR (Sha'Carri Richardson) even though she lost (at Olympics), still had the fastest time that season. Her Olympic start was just horrible but she still found her way to silver from the back of the pack," another one pointed out.
"See I’m not for going against your people. This was weak, Sha’carri has beaten Alfred many times and beat her the following race after the Olympics," responded another one.
The debate will certainly continue this year but Richardson has her chance for revenge at the World Championships in Tokyo in September when she will be seeking to defend her title.
