Noah Lyles has revealed his greatest struggle that he is currently working on in a bid to defend his world titles in Tokyo, Japan, later this year.
Reigning Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles has disclosed one of his greatest weaknesses that his rivals can take advantage of.
Making an appearance on the Toure Show, the triple world champion revealed that he struggles to get to his top-end speed but seemingly his strong mindset has been very instrumental in helping him win races.
Noah Lyles explained that he always finds it easy to work on his strengths, but he tends to shun away from his weaknesses if he can’t handle them well.

The Jamaican sprinter revealed that loyalty to Jamaica and financial responsibilities have kept him competing, despite opportunities to retire much earlier.
“I have flat feet that don’t engage like other people who just do it naturally. I have to work on it every day and make sure that my feet are prepared. Probably I’m not in the right angle and I also have to work on that.”
The three-time world 200m champion explained that there are athletes who have explosive starts from the blocks but holding onto that speed becomes a struggle and that’s where he comes in.
He added that at the Olympic Games, he was the last to get off the blocks but he went on to make use of his speed at the end eventually winning the race, five-thousandths of a second faster than Kishane Thompson, who came in second.

“At the Olympics, I was the last…everybody has a gift. Some athletes are very good at getting to their top speed but their top speed might not be that high,” Noah Lyles revealed.
“At that point, they might have to hold it. My weakness is getting up to my top speed and that’s the thing I’ve had to work on for years.”
This season, Noah Lyles will have very tough opposition as he looks to defend his titles at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
He will have to go past the likes of Kishane Thompson, Oblique Seville, Letsile Tebogo, Fred Kerley, Kenny Bednarek, and Co who will all be eyeing the top spots.
