Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt has shared how Noah Lyles disrespected him by failing to recognize his achievements during a past interview.
Jamaican sprint great Usain Bolt has opened up over a past remark made by world and Olympics 100m champion Noah Lyles that he found demeaning and disrespectful.
Bolt, appearing on the Ready Set Go podcast, co-hosted by former world and Olympics champion Justin Gatlin, as well as ex-Bahamas sprinter Rodney Green, spoke about a number of topics about sprinting, past and present, but shared one experience that he has not forgotten to date.
The eight-time Olympics champion was asked to name a dream 100m lineup that he would love to race against and after naming seven past legends, he hesitantly added Lyles’ name to it, but with a caveat.

Victor Wanyama hints at where he wants to play next as he weighs several offers
Victor Wanyama has hinted at where he is likely to play next as he weighs his options from a number of several offers on his table.
Bolt, who does not appear to rate Lyles highly, said he put the American on the list because he would have loved to silence him given the way he goes about his business.
“Me, you (Gatlin), Tyson [Gay], Asafa [Powell], [Yohan] Blake, I would definitely like to compete against Maurice Greene, Benson Johnson and let’s get Lyles just because,” Bolt said.
“Let’s give Noah a spot just because I would love to race against him. Just because I would love to beat him because he talks too much. Every day I am like; ‘why did I retire so early.’”
Bolt then revealed one comment Lyles made about him that has never left his mind, explaining how he found it disrespectful, given what he has achieved in the sport.

“I remember when he [Lyles] just came up, and I will never forget. He was asked like you know Usain, and he was like; ‘Usain who?’ And I am saying bro, just stop it,” Bolt went on.
“I normally don’t say that but I was like bro, if you don’t know who Usain Bolt is, you are in the wrong sport. So, stop it, stop acting and put some respect on my name. You know, and every time he is talking, he says; ‘Yo, I want to break his records, so stop it.”

Benni McCarthy picks his assistant coach for Harambee Stars job
South African legend Benni McCarthy has reportedly decided on the men who will join his technical bench when he takes over as Harambee Stars coach.
The 11-time world champion feels it is okay for current sprinters to aim higher but they need to do it in a manner that does not disrespect those who came before them as they are the ones who set the platform.
“But he came up and said; ‘I didn’t mean anything like that.’ I respect everybody and I understand you have to aim high and break records but I would never disrespect or try to make him look away because these guys are the ones that set the platform for you to come back and be better,” said Bolt.
“So, I would never say anything bad about the old athletes before me because these were the guys that really built the platform and then we add to it, trying to make it greater. That is why people are comparing [themselves] to me and I am like it is what it is, we expect it, hope it helps, but respect it.”
