Sprint sensation Monica Safania is gearing up for a busy 2024 season where she intends to qualify for all international assignments.

The 2024 track and field season has so much in store for athletes and sprint sensation Monica Safania is not an exception.

Safania is looking forward to making an impact on the global stage as she eyes the Olympic Games and the All-Africa Games among other events.

She explained that she has hopes she will hit the qualifying time for the Olympic Games before time elapses. The qualifying time for the women’s 100m race stands at 11.07 and Safania’s Personal Best time is currently 11.75.

This season, she has been to a couple of Athletics Kenya Meetings where she posted promising times and come next season, she will be hoping to continue the hot streak.

“I want to start with the All-Africa Games and I’m looking forward to the trials where I hope I will make the cut, that will be the stepping stone…I know I will make the time," Safania told Pulse Sports.

"From there, we have the world relays which I don’t want to miss. That will be another experience for me to learn and better myself ahead of the Olympic Games."

The 33-year-old added that she is burning the midnight oil to ensure she qualifies for all the events.

“Actually, I’m training so hard and I doubt if there will be an event that I will miss," she added.

"In the previous events, I haven’t missed any international events so I hope with the current training, I will make it. Come next year, I will have stamped my authority on the global stage.”
